God Stepped Into Our Story To Save Us
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Ever felt like you’re walking through struggle alone? We share why the God who made you also stepped into your story, took on real temptation, and now meets you with mercy instead of distance. Drawing from Hebrews 4, we explore Jesus as our great high priest who knows our weakness firsthand and invites us to draw near with confidence for timely help.
We start by grounding the human story in Genesis—formed in God’s image, fractured by sin, and living with the fallout we all see in greed, violence, and despair. Then we shift to the heart of the gospel: Colossians 1 and Philippians 2 reveal who Jesus is—the image of the invisible God who humbled Himself, became a servant, and reconciled all things through the cross. John 3:16–17 reframes the mission: not condemnation, but love that gives life. That’s why empty pleasures can’t heal us, and why grace is more than comfort; it’s power to forgive, restore, and transform.
We also get practical. Acts 2:38–39 and Romans 10:9–11 outline a clear response—repent, be baptized, believe, confess Jesus as Lord—and we talk about the gift of the Holy Spirit who renews us daily. For the battle with temptation, 1 Corinthians 10:13 offers a way of escape, and Romans 6 calls us to live free from what harms us. Along the way, we share a personal update and invite you to our midweek English service, because this journey is better in community.

A God Who Understands
SPEAKER_00On this episode of Faith Over Fear, we're going to be talking about a God who understands us. We're going to be talking about how God descended from heaven, gave his life for us, and because of that, he is able to understand us. He's able to sympathize with our lives through our temptations, through our struggles, through everything that we go through. It's been about a month since I dropped the last episode. In that time, my daughter was born, and we've been um taking care of her. We've been taking our time to, you know, one, I'm still working. Um, so trying to balance out taking care of our daughter and working and resting and you know going through all these things, but God has been helping us through everything. And I just want to say it's a blessing to have our daughter here. It's a blessing to see her grow. It's a blessing to see her change every single day. And it's easily the most beautiful thing that um I've gone through. I know that my wife agrees as well. Um, but we are back. This is the first episode of the year. Um from here on out, we're gonna be a lot more consistent. Uh, we're gonna be um same thing, dropping more episodes every single week. And I actually just um, you know, I got a new mic. Um, I got actually another mic. Um, so hopefully soon uh we're gonna be able to have guests on the show so that we can talk about stuff, um, interview them, talk about the Bible, uh, talk about their lives, testimonies, um, plethora of things, not just uh things that have to do with church, you know, just life in general, um, you know, being able to um go in depth with people's lives and their testimony and the things that they've lived through, the things that they've gone through. Um, but stay tuned. We will get through that, and we will get to that eventually. Um, but before we get started, let's just make sure that you guys are following, that you guys are subscribing, that you guys are leaving five-star reviews on all the podcast sites available. Um, this podcast is available on, I think it's like 40 podcast sites. Uh, so let's make sure that um wherever you guys are listening, that you guys are liking, that you guys are subscribing, that you guys are commenting, that you guys are engaging. Um, the clips that I make on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, um, make sure that you guys are liking them, sharing them with your friends. All these things help out the algorithm to be able to spread this message to as many people as we possibly can. And right before that, before we get into the word, before we start talking about how God understands us, how he relates to us, not just as our creator, um, but because he lived the life, he lived a human life. Uh, before we get into that word, let's just do a quick prayer and then we'll get right into it. Father God, we come before you. And before anything else, Lord, thank you. Thank you for everything that you have given us. Thank you for the life you have given us, for the air in our lungs, Lord. Thank you because you have been faithful, you have been forgiving, you have been merciful, Lord. Thank you because we are here because of you, because of your sacrifice on the cross. And God, all I ask for is for you to use me as a vessel to convey this message that you want to talk about. And Lord, may you be opening up our minds, opening up our souls, opening up our hearts, opening up our spirit, Lord, to your word. Help us understand what you want to talk about today. In the name of Jesus, amen. Quick side note. So I'm currently in the English ministry at my church, and we are doing English services every single Wednesday uh at in Chelsea, uh 140 Shirtlift Street. If you guys have any questions or if you guys are interested in coming, you can reach out to myself. Um, I post it on my Instagram as well. But every single Wednesday at 7:30, it's our English service. Uh, yesterday, this Wednesday, I actually preached this message that I'm gonna be uh talking about today in this podcast. So we invite you guys to come on Wednesdays. It's it's it's a beautiful thing. It's we are a Spanish church, but now we're branching out into our English ministry, having services every single Wednesday. And we're excited to see how God is gonna use this ministry to help us achieve an English church through this organization. Um, but yeah, let's get into the word. Um a God who understands us. God is a God who understands us, He created us, He created us in His image, He took the time to create us. I've said this before. God didn't just speak us into existence, He took the time to create us. He said, He sat down, He rolled up his sleeves, and you know, He created us out of the dirt, He molded us, and then He breathed life into us. Um, and it's a beautiful thing when we understand that God took His time with us, He didn't just say, Man, you are created. No, he took His time, He sat down and created us, His favorite creation. He He said, We're going to create man in our image. We are created in the image of God, and that's something that we all need to grasp. That's something that we all need to understand, that's something that we all need to keep in mind is we were created in the image of God. Uh so to start off, uh let's go to Hebrews chapter four, verse 12 through 16. Hebrews chapter 4, verse 12 through 16. And it says this for the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight. All are naked and exposed to the eyes of him, to whom we must give account. Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confessions. Our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every at respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. So we are all exposed in front of God. There's no hiding, there's no hiding our sin. He sees it all, he knows it all. And he can sympathize with us because he knows the temptations that are in this world, he knows the things that come against us, he knows the things that affect us every single day. He knows the things that we are weak to, he knows our weaknesses. Why? Because he lived a human life, he lived a life just like mine, just like yours, where we struggle with weaknesses, we struggle with addictions, we struggle with lusts, we struggle with depression, we struggle with all these evil things around us and the things that our flesh wants to do. He went through all these things, but remained sinless. That is what makes him a high, our high priest. That's why we're able to get close to the throne of God, that's why we're able to have mercy through this high priest, through Jesus. And to be able to understand why why Jesus did this, what did Jesus exactly do? Why, why did Jesus have to do this? Why do we have to be saved? Why um do we have to have forgiveness of our sins? Why are we why is the is the world in this exact situation? Why is the world so corrupt? Why is the world so evil? Why is everywhere that I look, there's so much stuff going on that seems that it's going against God, it's going against good, going against what God stands for. So for that, we have to go back to Genesis. And in Genesis 3, verse 3, it says, This is what God said in the beginning. But God said, You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it lest you die. So this is God's warning to Adam and Eve. Don't even touch it, because you will die. And we all know what happens. Eve took from the tree because she was tricked by the serpent, and she gave some to her husband, and they failed. That's what sin is, is to fail, to miss the mark, to miss the goal. Um, and it's it's it's the word hamartia in Greek. It's to have a flaw that leads you to your downfall, that leads you to your corruption, that leads you to your destruction. That's what sin means. And if we jump to verse 16 and 19, it says, This is what God says to the woman, and this is what God says to the man, even Adam. To the woman he said, I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing. In pain you shall birth bring forth children, your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you. And to Adam he said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, you shall not eat of it. Cursed is the ground because of you. In pain you shall eat of it all days of your life. So because of this the world was cursed, because of this, the world is the way that it is because of sin. Thorns, verse 18, thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you shall you were taken, for you are dust, and to dust you shall return. So what happened? Evil, corruption, destruction corrupted a perfect creation. Sin entered the world and completely destroyed it, completely corrupted it, and again, that is why the world is in the the way that it is. That's why there's so much wars, that's why there's so much hate, that's why there's so much um grudges, anger. That's why you see all this stuff, all this corruption in the world. Everywhere you look, it's corruption. All people care about is money, all the governments care about is money, all these industries care about is money, all these companies care about is money. The the health organization all cut cares about money. Everything revolves around evil things. The Bible says that money is the root of all evil, and 90% of this world runs for more money, more money, more money, more money, greed, greed, greed. And all that comes from sin. All that came from sin. And it says, if we look in Genesis 6, 6 through 7, um, it says that God was so upset, and he regretted creating humanity, he regretted creating us because of how evil we were, because of how evil we were becoming, because all our thoughts were evil, everything that we were doing was evil. Humanity was getting worse and worse and worse and worse. Look what it says in Genesis 6, 6 through 7. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved them to his heart. He grieved, he said, There is no way I created something like this. I can't believe I created humanity. Like it grieved them. He he was in grief. So the Lord said, I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, and man and animals, and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them. He was sorry for to have created humanity. He was sorry to have created us, he was sorry to have created this creation because of how evil, because of how much corruption, because of how much destruction we were causing. And if we go to there's a there's a verse in Ecclesiastes that says that man was created perfect, creation was perfect, but we are the ones that destroyed it, we are the ones that corrupted it, we are the ones that brought in evil, our fleshly desires, our evil desires, our rebellious actions, bring in all this corruption, bring in all this this suffering, all this pain, pain, suffering, um, all this stuff comes from our actions. There's good consequences and there's bad, there's good consequences, there's bad consequences. Good consequences come from good actions, bad consequences come from bad actions. And everything in this world, all the corruption, all the greed, all the money hunger, all all the the all this stuff that you see in the world, in the news, wars, um rape, murder, um, shootings in schools, um, live TV assassinations, all this stuff comes from corruption, all this stuff comes from this root of evil. All of it comes from the beginning in Genesis because man sinned and sin entered the world. A flaw that will bring us to our downfall. Every single one of us has sinned, every single one of us has sin in us, every single one of us is born in sin. You don't teach a child how to lie, they do it automatically. You don't teach a child how to hide when they do something wrong, they do it automatically. We are all born in sin. There's not a single perfect being on this planet. Every single one of us has sin. And the people who think that they're perfect, the people that think that um they've never done anything wrong, they're wrong. The Bible says that all have sinned. And look what it says in Romans chapter 6, verse 23. I've read this multiple times. Chapter 6, verse 23. For the wages of sin is death. The wages of sin is death. What we have to pay for sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord. In Christ Jesus, we have eternal life. He offers us eternal life. So we come back to why did Jesus do what he had to do and who is Jesus? Why does the Hebrews call him a high priest? Why does it say that he is able to relate to us, sympathize with us? Why does it say that he is a sinless man? And if we look in the book of Colossians, um, this encapsulates fully who Jesus is. It takes it's the perfect way to describe who Jesus is. Which again, I've said this multiple times. It's God Himself. God Himself. God the creator of heaven and earth, God the creator of humanity, God who created all the heavenly beings, God who created this dimension, God who created everything. He came down from heaven, he left his throne to look for you and me. He humbled himself all the way down to a human to look for you and for me. What it says in Colossians ver uh chapter one, verse 15 through 20. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. I've read this multiple times. Um, and I I feel like uh a lot of my like podcasts, sorry, quick quick pause. Um, I I repeat a lot of things, but these these are things, these are concepts that we need to understand. And it's very important for us to understand why we are saved, why do we need saving? Who is Jesus? Who is God? Why did God choose to save us? It's all these questions that need to be answered in a Christian life because we need to understand why we're here. What purpose do we have in God? Why do we need to let this message go to everybody? Why does everybody have to hear this message? And we need to understand all of this. God is a God that understands us, and he's there for us, he came to help us. And this is who Jesus is. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation, all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities, all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. That in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, all of God was pleased to dwell in Jesus, and through him to reconcile himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. So Jesus is God Himself coming to look for you and me. Jesus is God leaving all his glory, all his power, all his throne, his kingdom to come to look for us, to come and sacrifice his life for us, to reconcile creation, everything in heaven and on earth, to reconcile us back to how we were in Eden, back to that perfect relationship that we used to have with God, back to having access to the throne of God, back to having access to everything that God has promised for us. That is how powerful the thing that Jesus did for us is. He didn't want to see us loss anymore. He didn't want to see us suffering anymore. He didn't want to see us going down the wrong path. He doesn't want to see us going towards condemnation. He said, No, I'm going to leave my throne. I'm going to leave my heavenly places and live a life as a servant. Live a life as a human so that I can sacrifice my life. And so that I can reconcile everything back to me. Because I don't want to see my creation get lost. I don't want to see my favorite creation get lost. I don't want to see the humans that I created in my image get lost. So I've decided to come down as a human and give my life for you guys. That is what happened. That is what Jesus did. In Philippians chapter 2, verse 5 through 8, this also explaining who Jesus is. Have this in mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who though he was in the form of God, Jesus, who, although he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, gave everything away by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of man, and being found in human form. This is talking about God, coming down in human form, which is Jesus. He humbled himself by coming, by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. He humbled himself to the point that he gave his life for us. Even though he didn't have to, even though we didn't deserve it, even though we wanted nothing to do with him, even though we rejected him, even though humans are the ones that ended up killing him. Even though he never did any evil deeds, even though he had no sin in him, we still decided to kill him. But it had to be done, it had to be fulfilled, so that everything can be reconciled back to him. That is who Jesus is. Jesus is God coming to look for us in human form in the flesh. And then what did he do exactly? John 3 16 through 17. For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. He didn't come to condemn us, he didn't come to judge us, he didn't come to tell us that we're going to hell, that that we're that we're condemned. He didn't come here to be with the perfect people. No. He came to look for the people that knew that they they needed help, that know they need help. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Jesus came to save the world, to reconcile the world from sin, to clean sin from us, to forgive us of our sins, to bring us back to the beginning, to how we were in Eden, to the glory that we had in Eden, to the to the connection that we had with God in Eden. Taking us away from everything that this world offers, giving us purpose, giving us hope, giving us joy, true joy, true peace, giving us everything that we need and ever will need through Jesus. The world offers you so many things, so many pleasures that will never fill you. Addictions, lust, things that make you feel good, things that make your body feel good, things that make you feel, you know, like out of this world. But all that stuff leaves you empty. And only Jesus can fill that emptiness, only Jesus can take you out of that hole that you're in. Only Jesus can take you out of that depression, only Jesus can take you out of that addiction. Only Jesus can change your actions, only Jesus can transform you. Only Jesus can heal you, can heal your wounds, can heal your your your cuts and your heart and your mind and your soul. Only Jesus can take you out of the situation that you're in right now. But what it says in Ephesians chapter 1, verse 7 through 10. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us in all wisdom and insight, making known to us the mystery of his will according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ, as a plan for the fullness of time to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. He has given us redemption through his blood, he has given us redemption through his blood, forgiveness of our trespasses, forgiveness of our sins. He has offered us grace for free. That's what grace is. It's something that we don't deserve, but he's still giving it to us. He's offering it to you. Hey, here, look. This is a gift that I have for you. Take it take it. It's free. I did it out of love for you. He did it out of love for me. Because he doesn't want to see us lose our lives eternally. He doesn't want to be separated from us eternally. What it says in 1 John chapter 2 verse 2. He is the propation of our sins. And not for all not for ours, not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. He died for the whole world. He died for the whole world. And again, it's a gift that's free. And you must be asking, like, what do I have to do to accept that gift? What do I have to do to take in that gift? To tell God, God, I I accept your gift. I want to take in your gift. I want to accept your gift. What do I have to do? And if we go to the book of Acts, chapter 2, verse 38 through 39, this is the answer that Peter gives us. And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off. Everyone who the Lord our God calls to himself. Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The word repent means to change your mind, change your way of thinking. We're not perfect. A lot of people think they're perfect, but we're not perfect. We need help. We are hopeless. There is nothing that we can do to reconcile our relationship with God. We can't even get close to God in our current condition of sin. But through Jesus. But by giving my life through Jesus, His blood covers us, and that connection with God is reconciled, and our sins are forgiven. And we received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God Himself living in you, taking away all the evil, changing your mind every single day, transforming your mind every single day, sanctifying you every single day, making you closer to the man Jesus every single day. And it's a process that will last the rest of our lives. But that is how you accept that gift. And Paul says in Romans chapter 10, verse 9 through 11, he says it like this. Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the scripture says, Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame. You must believe in Jesus. Believe that he gave his life for you, and that he resurrected three days later in power. And he was given all authority over heaven and on earth. That name Jesus has been given all authority. That man Jesus has been given all authority on heaven and on earth. Because he is God Himself coming to look for you. And Romans chapter 6, verse 1 through 2. This is where I bring it in like a full 360 of why God knows us, why he understands us. Because Jesus lived a human life. Jesus lived through all these temptations and even stronger ones. The devil showed up, showed himself to Jesus and said, I will give you all the kingdoms of this world if you worship me. I will give you the command of this world if you worship me. Imagine you were you were in front of there, and the devil came up to you and said, I will give you my whole kingdom. I will give you all of this if you worship me. How intriguing is that? How much power you will receive, how many riches you will receive. And Jesus said, Absolutely not. I have a plan that I have to fulfill. I came here for a reason, and it's to save humanity, to save the world, to reconcile heaven and on earth back to the way it used to be. No temptation overtook him. And because of that, he can relate to us because he knows what temptations we go through. He knows what temptations are like. How can we who died to sin still live in it? So he's saying, How can we, how can we who know what sin does to us, who know how corrupt sin is, who knows that sin only brings us to destruction, who know that sin is the root of all evil, why do we still choose to live in it? Why would we still choose to live in it? No. We have to live a righteous life, a life that is pleasing to God, a life that separates us from the world, a a life that brings us away from the world, that makes us holy. Holy means to be separated. And look what it says in 1 Corinthians chapter 10, verse 13. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability. But with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape that you may be able to endure it. God will never allow you to be tempted more than you can be tempted. God will never give you a test that he knows that you can't pass. God will never allow something to happen to you that you can't handle. Because he knows you, because he understands you, because he knows that with him anything is possible. With him, we can conquer it all. And that's why in Hebrews it says that he can sympathize with us, he can relate to us, because he has gone through all these things, through all these temptations. If there's anybody who can have a grudge, is there anybody that that can have anger towards people? If there's anybody that can that can have sorrow, deep sorrow, it's Jesus. Jesus was betrayed by his own people. Jesus was betrayed by his own friend group. He was sold off to be killed by his closest friends, by his closest people, that by the people that were closest to him. But he didn't sin one time. He lived a perfect life. And if you read what death on a cross is, it's one of the worst imaginable deaths that anybody can go through. We have so much to be thankful for. Just repent, ask for forgiveness. Truly mean it. And he will help you. He will give you the strength that you need, he will give you the wisdom that you need, he will give you the discernment that you need. To be able to make the correct decisions to align you back to where you need to go. He knows it all. He understands it all. We can't hide from him. We are naked in front of him, like it says in the book of Hebrews. No one can hide from him. Because he knows us, he understands us, and he relates and sympathizes to us. And he will not let you down, he will not let you fall. If you rely on him, he will help you. Let's pray. God, we come before you one more time. And Lord, I just want to say thank you because you have given us your word. Because your sacrifice gives us everything that we need to be able to continue this life. It gives us purpose, it gives us hope, it gives us grace, it gives us mercy, it gives us everything that we need. That grace that you have extended to us, Lord, even though we didn't deserve it, even though we rebelled against you, even though we wanted nothing to do with you, you still decided to give your life for us. And God, help us fight all these temptations that come against us. Give us discernment, give us wisdom, give us intelligence to be able to make the right decisions to get out of these temptations, to avoid temptations. And Lord, may you be the center of our lives every single day. May we search for you more. May we give our lives to you, may we surrender our lives to you so that we can be transformed. And God forgive us of our sins, forgive us of our trespasses that we commit every single day, Lord. In the name of Jesus, amen. Well, God bless you guys.
